CCE Madison County 4-H is offering a Tractor Safety Certification Program for youth ages 14 and older. This program provides the required certification for farm employment, including operating tractors and machinery.

According to the Hazardous Occupations in Agriculture Law, youth ages 14–16 must complete at least 24 hours of safety training before operating tractors and machinery on farms not owned by their parents. This course will take place May 4–9, 2026.

Important Information:

  • Youth ages 14 and 15 must have this certification before being employed to work on farms
  • Program fee: $30 for enrolled 4-H or FFA members; $50 for non-enrolled participants (covers materials)
  • Participants must attend all sessions to receive certification
  • An Acknowledgement of Risk Form is required for all participants

To successfully complete the program, participants must attend all sessions and pass both a written exam and a practical driving test. Those who complete the program will receive a certificate from the Department of Labor. Employers are legally required to request this certificate before hiring youth ages 14 or 15.

  • Saturday, May 9 | 9:30 AM–4:30 PM (Java Farm Supply)
