The Cornell Cooperative Extension Agritourism Program Work Team, in partnership with the Stanley Warren Teaching Endowment Fund at the Cornell University Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, invites agritourism operators, agricultural service providers, and tourism promotion agencies to join them for an innovative, hands-on, and educational opportunity aimed at growing the agritourism industry across New York State.
Two options will be offered: one in Western NY (Lockport, NY) and another in Central NY (Cazenovia & Jamesville, NY). Each session will feature a full day of chauffeured bus tours to five agritourism destinations, exploring their success in four key areas: farm facilities, visitor profiles, natural resources, and personal qualities. The first day will conclude with a keynote speaker, networking session, and dinner. The second day will consist of a half-day session featuring speakers, hands-on activities, discussions, and guest presentations.
Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the resources available at both the state and local levels from Cornell Cooperative Extension and partners such as I LOVE NY and the NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets, to support their agritourism operations. They will also build a stronger local network within their agritourism community.
The cost to attend is $60 per person for the day-and-a-half training, which includes transportation on day one, as well as lunch, dinner, and the networking session. A light breakfast will also be provided on day two. Pre-registration is required by the Thursday prior to the event. Financial support is provided by the Stanley Warren Teaching Endowment Fund to keep costs affordable.
